Our migration work began in the UK through our support for asylum seekers placed by Mears Group.
Our partnership with Mears, one of the UK’s largest housing providers for asylum seekers, is a vital part of our mission to support vulnerable individuals across Newcastle. Mears has formally recognised the essential role we play in improving the wellbeing of people living in temporary accommodation, highlighting our work in wellbeing sessions, befriending, gym memberships, food parcels, hygiene packs, digital access, and one‑to‑one emotional support.
Their endorsement reflects the deep impact of our culturally competent, community‑led approach — an approach that restores dignity, strengthens stability, and brings hope to those navigating the asylum process.
But we wanted to do more than help people after they arrive. As founders from countries deeply affected by the migration crisis, we understand why people leave — and we also know the pain it causes.
This is why we expanded our work to The Gambia and Guinea‑Bissau: to help create the right conditions for people to stay safely at home, build a future, and avoid dangerous journeys that cost lives and put pressure on the UK system.
